The Club Championship was contested on October the 22nd and 23rd. The blue tees were stretched to the back plates, and the wind was blowing on the second day. The competition was close. After one round, Steve O’Donoghue shot 73 and held a one shot lead over last year’s Champion, Jamie Montgomery, and five shots ahead of Gnat Heekin, Randy Mertens, and Andy Andreu. The second round scores were higher for all contenders except Gnat Heekin, who shot a respectable 77. Although Steve O’Donoghue did not equal his 73 of round one, he shot a nice 75 that reflected his consistent play throughout the event. Steve’s score was good enough for a seven shot victory over Gnat Heekin. Congratulations Steve. Your seven shot victory was impressive in the tough conditions. Steve is now the current Club Champion and Senior Club Champion.
